Clopixol Depot
Clopixol Depot
Clopixol Depot acts as a combined absorption and conversion depot used in the management of schizophrenia: specifically, the treatment of agitation, psychomotor disturbances, hostility, suspicion, aggression and affective reactions.
Also Known As:
Zuclopenthixol Decanoate
Active Ingredients:
Zuclopenthixol Decanoate-A drug that affects the serum concentrations of Zuclopenthixol, affecting brain chemistry and helping to manage the symptoms of chronic schizophrenia.
How It Works:
Regular injection of Clopixol Depot results in a steady serum concentration of Zuclopenthixol, an antipsychotic which helps maintain normal neurologic function in patients suffering from Schizophrenia.
Side Effects:
Clopixol Depot should not be used with patients who are pregnant, who are under the age of 18 or who have hepatic disease.
Drowsiness and a slowed reaction time have been noticed during use. In the beginning stages of treatment patients should be careful when driving or operating heavy machinery until the effects of the drug on the specific patient have been noted. Other potential side effects include allergic reaction, chest pain, drug dependence, increased libido, migraine, speech disorder, abdominal pain, gastric ulcer, hypotension, nasal congestion, rhinitis and dermatitis.
Anticholinergic effects (interference with impulses of the cholinergic nerve fibers) have been noted with the use of Clopixol Depot. While generally not a problem in healthy patients, it should not be used in patients with narrow angle glaucoma. Like most antipsychotic drugs, Clopixol Depot causes elevated prolactin levels during administration. Patients with breast cancer or pituitary tumors should not use Clopixol Depot unless the physician is able to determine that the benefits outweigh the risk.
Photosensitivity has been noted in patients taking related drugs and may result in an increased risk of seizure in patients with known convulsive disorders. Zuclophenthixol Decanoate has also been noted to have an antiemetic effect in animals. This effect may carry over to humans, masking signs of drug overdose, illness, disease or intestinal obstruction.
Clopixol Depot may speed deterioration in patients suffering from Parkinson's Disease and is not recommended for use with these patients, patients suffering from acute alcohol, barbiturate or opiate intoxication, CNS depression and known hypersensitivity to thioxanthenes, zuclopenthixol or other ingredients, active or inactive.
You can buy Clopixol Depot in the USA at any local drug store or outside the USA at a discount Canada pharmacy online.
